02 Dec Leona Lewis Nurtures Empathy In VR At Farm Sanctuary Gala
Farm Sanctuary’s 30th Anniversary Gala brought out the compassion in Angelenos, celebrities and animal advocates from across the region and country-wide to celebrate 30 years of rescue, education and advocacy for farm animals, the largest population of abused animals on Earth. The Sights and Sounds Media House (now Empact Labs) team oversaw and managed the HTC Vive VR activation that was setup at the Gala. The team attended to guests watching a custom made 360 video that gave them a little insight into what life could possibly be like as a farm animal. The piece was created by WonderWorld VR made for Farm Sanctuary at their farm in New York.
Among those who experienced the immersive farm animal video was British singer, songwriter and animal welfare campaigner, Leona Lewis, who took home the “Friends Not Food” award.
The Gala took place Saturday evening, November 12th at the Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles. Celebrities in attendance included Natalie Portman, James Cromwell, Renee Olstead, Jeff Garlin, Craig Ferguson, Jennifer Coolidge, Kara Royster, Simone Reyes, Sloane Avery, Lesley Nichol, David Mazouz, Jonathan Slavin, and many more.
“Tonight feels like a recovery meeting of sorts,” said Kevin Nealon, who emceed the event. “In light of recent events, it’s nice to be in a room full of conscientious people.”
